Apple season is now in full operation! Have 10 varieties ripe: Gala, Suncrisp, Ginger Gold, Red and Golden Delicious, Cortland, Empire, Jonagold, Red Winesap and next week, Stayman Winesap.
While the heavy rains earlier this week stopped red raspberry picking and brought on some rot, picking is again fair to good! Come pick your own and save $2.00/quart.
Still picking a few peaches. Season will end this weekend, so come get them while you can.
Now have lots of very sweet delicious muscadine grapes ripe. If you are a wine or jelly maker, or just love to eat them, come have fun! Pick your own and save $0.50 a pound. Our vines are loaded with fruit.
We still have a good supply of Bartlett type and Asian pears.
The processing room is very busy making our extra special refrigerated products:
* Fresh, uniquely pasteurized apple cider.
* Regular and no-sugar-added apple sauce.
* Vacuum packaged, pasteurized Jonagold and Cortland apple slices.
* Apple, peach and pear apple butters.
Have seen no signs recently that our neighborhood black bears are visiting the orchards. Nearby neighbors report seeing a big "Smoky" wandering around looking for food! Do see 10 to 40 turkeys most every time I go through the orchards, and lots of evidence of deer.
Look forward to your visiting real soon!
