Finally made trip to South Georgia and we now have freshly boiled "Green" peanuts. They are delicious!
Due to the time it takes to prepare the approx. 1000 lbs. of green peanuts for refrigerated storage, will be unable to make fresh apple cider this week. It's a promise: Will make first production run of cider next Friday, Sept. 11.
As part of the trip to Georgia, picked up a good stock of Canebrake Farms excellent acidified vegetable products: Salsas, relishes and pickles.
This is probably the last week for sweet corn for this season. We have good supply of white and bi-color for the weekend.
We're starting to pick good quantities of figs (possibly enough to make fig preserves soon) and a few big black delicious Supreme muscadines!
We're now picking lots and lots of apples - Jonagold, McIntosh, Cortland, Mutsu and Red and Golden Delicious. Will start picking Empire and Red Winesap by Saturday.
APPLE SPECIAL: Have approx. 25 bushel cartons of good Ginger Gold apples in the cooler. Ginger Golds are good eating and cooking variety. Need to free up cooler space for varieties we're now picking. Sale price: $11.50/bushel carton.
Still in need of more part time help with picking, sorting, packing apples and other orchard work.
Changing retail hours again. Starting next week will be open Tuesday through Sunday.
Look forward to seeing you real soon!
