Peaches, Prunes, Plums, Nectarines & More (Apples!) at Perdeaux Fruit Farm - and We're Hiring!

Ripening Nectarine

Over last 10 days farm has received considerable rain. As a result of the rains combined with the very warm weather, fruit size has improved and they are ripening rapidly. We now have lots of fruit to pick.

PEACHES: Now picking some of the best of the season!

NECTARINES: Largest nectarine crop! Quality is excellent! If you love nectarines, now is the time to get them.

PLUMS: Ozark Premiers are ripe and the crop is large.

PRUNES: Picking Castleton prunes. A new earlier variety from NY Geneva experiment station.

APPLES: Now picking first apples of season: Ginger Gold and Zestar (a new red green/sweet tart variety).

PEARS: Picked first Bartlett type pears yesterday. Will take us a couple weeks to complete proper ripening, before available in the market.

BLACKBERRIES: Good quantities still available. Season will be over in 2 to 3 weeks.

BLUEBERRIES: Our Blueberries come from The Happy Berry farm in Six Mile, SC. Operated by my good friend Dr. Walker Miller and family. Their Blueberry quality right now is outstanding!

SWEET CORN and TOMATOES: As most of you know ours come from nearby Beechwood Farm. Both are now in good supply and quality is excellent!

CANTALOUPES and SEEDLESS WATERMELONS: Ours are grown by the Barnes Family Farm, located southeast of Columbia. Picked on Thursday and we receive Friday morning.

SPECIAL NOTE: We are behind schedule in making preserves due to finishing some improvement to the processing room and loss of our processing room person. We have the largest apple crop ever on the trees and will start heavy picking next week. Mid to late August we lose our three college students. We have a serious labor situation developing and need your help. Please put out the word to your friends and neighbors about our urgent labor needs---person(s) for the fruit processing room and people to pick, sort and box apples, pears---pick muscadines---at times help in processing room. Part or full time through November.

Hope to see you real soon!

Dick Perdue
