Over the past five weeks my wife Betty and I have encountered health problems that have required hospitalization. Betty is out—fully recovered and doing great!
I'm out but not fully recovered. Two to three weeks to go.
I was able to start badly-needed fungicide spraying of apples. Last sprayed 5 weeks ago. Lack
of spraying has probably already resulted in 20 to 30 percent crop loss due to rot.
Considering our difficult circumstances, farm retail market has been closed this week. Will open again this Saturday, August 26.
Tomorrow will make first apple sauce of season. Will be available Saturday.
Saturday will make first fresh apple cider of season. Should be available after 1:00 PM.
Will have: Gala, Shenshu, Ginger Gold, early picked Cortlands, Red Winesaps, McIntosh and early Fuji apples available.
Our Muscadines and Figs are ripe and will be available.
Also will have Asian Pear Apples and Bartlett Type Pears (ripened and ready to eat).
We have still have 3 late varieties of peaches to ripen over next 3 weeks. Don't have many trees and crop loads are light. Should have a few ripe Saturday.
Available in half peck bags.
Apple season is here! Once we reopen Saturday, the retail market will be open 5 days a week. Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - Saturday - Sunday.
Hope to see you Saturday!
